Upcoming Auditions for SOUND & Stage Theater
We are stepping into our second season with an all original heart-felt comedy, Hopelessly Devoted.
Auditions will be held May 31st, 5:30-9pm, and June 1st, 1:30pm-4:30pm, at 33 Center Road, Woodbridge, CT. Reserve your in-person audition using the calendar below. We are also accepting virtual auditions prior to June 1st. Please upload your video to YouTube (unlisted) and send the link to soundandstagect@gmail.com. Video should include a brief introduction, song and monologue.
“Hopelessly Devoted”
Description: Seeking actors, ages 13+, for an original musical theater show, “Hopelessly Devoted.” This modern-day, heart-felt comedy that takes place at Fairview High School, in San Diego. It contains all original songs inspired by music of the 70s! It’s a tribute to teachers striving to educate and support students, while also balancing the demands of their own lives & families. When the faculty & students find out that one of their most beloved teachers will be retiring, beautiful and surprising things begin to happen.
Characters: FACULTY & STAFF (male/female, ages 22-60+) and STUDENTS (13-18). Actors can audition for any age. See more details about Characters below.
FACULTY & STAFF:

Ms. Jodi, the AP English Teacher, who is beloved by all is about to retire.

Lisa is Fairview’s Health Teacher. She is struggling to navigate a divorce while balance being a mother. Her son is in 6th grade and her daughter, Gracie, is in 9th grade.

Mr. Peters is an energetic and charming history teacher. Ian is dating Mandi, the music teacher.

Miss Mandi is an enthusiastic music teacher at Fairview High. Mandi is dating Ian, the history teacher.

Mrs. Hayes is the feisty cycling Science teacher. Fran is married to Tod, the math teacher.

Mr. Hayes is best known at Fairview High as the awkward math teacher. To his coworkers, he’s just Tod and is married to Fran, the Science teacher.

Principal Kathy is the mother of Taylor (Senior). She has a strong and funny presence.

Coach Alex is the PE coach and runs track practices after school.

Chef Gina passionately oversees the cafeteria at Fairview High School.

Jackie works in the front office. She’s known for her sass.
STUDENTS:

JoJo is a very organized senior. She is the Student Body President and best friend of Taylor.

Taylor is a senior, Student Government Secretary, and best friend of JoJo. Taylor is the daughter of Principal Kathy and is struggling to feel like she is making her mother proud.

Logan is a senior and the Event Planner for Student Government. He is very kind and often the heart of the operation.

Elliot is a senior and Fairview High School’s track star. Elliot is very fit and motivated however, she’s often angry, and has been struggling with life.

Sarah is a freshman with big aspirations for theater and tends to be very dramatic.

Gracie is a freshman and is Lisa’s daughter. Gracie has been struggling with her parents divorce.

Pat is a freshman at Fairview High. She is not easily amused, but also can be very funny.

Darla is very excitable and often the voice of “GenZ reason.”

Come prepared using our Audition Checklist as your reference:
Prepare a contemporary monologue that is 2 minutes or less.
Prepare a verse and chorus of a 70’s-style song
Bring your headshot and resume to your in-person audition or if auditioning virtually, please attach headshot and resume to your email.
